The presentation Material Choice for Sustainability is an example of what the Green Ladies Program at the Design Academy in Eindhoven has to offer. Econcept’s presentation of Wednesday October 5th, 2005 can be downloaded.
This presentation discussed how designers can influence the sustainability of a design project by choosing the right materials. It introduces new material developments such as bio-plastics, intelligent eco-materials and sources for knowledge about materials and sustainability.
The Design Academy is placed in a building called The White Lady, the former Philips light factory and therefore a regular series of public lectures is named “White Lady Lectures”. In the Sustainable Design Program that tradition has been expanded to a regular Sustainable Design related lecture called “Green Lady Lectures” involving internal and external speakers on divers subjects of Sustainable Design.
Normally the lectures take place every first Wednesday per month 5 to 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Design Academy [3rd floor] and are open for all students and external participants.
